^ The Life and Times of a Muggle. After the whole Voldemort incident, I think it's pretty clear that knowing about the life of an average Muggle is essential to blending in. Just as one would learn about how to defend against the dark arts, even though the chances of an attack of the kind is rare, I believe knowing about Muggles and being able to pass off as one is necessary, even if the chances of needing to do so is unlikely. In it, we will teach students how Muggles spend their days, what they use and see as normal such as a "computer" or "car", etc.
